I first met him in the Chennai airport on 11.01.2017 and few Tamils specially youngsters were taking selfies with him. I used to follow him after the Jallikattu protests but blocked him because he used to write against Hindi and national language.
He was sitting in a chair near gate no 7-10 and a elderly couple came near and were standing. I saw him immediately get up, collect his bags and offer his seat. I was astonished not because he offered the seat but because the couple were clearly North Indian and the opinion I had on him was he hates North Indians.
I was perplexed because I believed he hates all people than Tamils or South Indians . After a few minutes my flight was called ( spice jet to coimbatore) and he also picked his bags.
Next I was more shocked to see him walk up to the elderly couple and offered to carry their bags as the elderly lady was using crutches. He carried their bags and also spoke to the flight attendants and ensured they don’t have to wait in the quee. Now I thought may be he knows the family some neigbhour or former boss of his.
I went up to them and asked them if they know the person who was helping them .. they said no and were so happy they he had helped them. They also said may god bless that man.
I felt miserable about my thoughts some time back …. I had misjudged him … I went to him and told him wanted to talk to him once Flight lands in Coimbatore .. he readily agreed.
I met him and told him about me following him in fb and than blocked him because of his anti Hindi stance, and my assumption that he hates all Hindi or North Indian people.
He was shocked and said “ I am against imposition of a language or culture not against individuals “ and explained diversity and why it’ needs to be protected .. all in eloquent english … accent coming from probably a public school … I found him very interesting and informative .. we exchanged cards and I left promising to keep in touch with him totally changed and my opinions about others were wrong …
He asked my name and when I said Praful Patel, he spoke on Gujarath high court s order stating Hindi is not the national language of India, about livestock keeping communities of Gujarath and their uniqueness. He seemed more knowledgable about rural Gujarath than me. Although a Gujarathi I rarely visit Gujarath.
Oh the person I met is Karthikeya Sivasenapathy, of Senaapathy Kangayam cattle research foundation, Tiruppur District.
-Praful Patel.
